Adjudicator: MARCIA CARR completed her training at Royal Holloway (University of London) and is now working towards her PhD. She is a recognised Feldenkrais Practitioner with FITC and completed her graduating year with Sussex 8.  She has toured for many years both nationally and internationally educating both young and old, facilitating workshops on all aspects of performance studies as well as lecturing to undergraduates and postgraduates on both academic and vocational courses. Marcia is Department Lead for Performing Arts and Senior Lecturer at the University of West London. She is an Associate Artist with the National Youth Theatre and examines and adjudicates nationally and internationally in all aspects of the Performing Arts.  Marcia is also Director of the Creative Blast Company, an umbrella for transgenerational arts work and performances along with an academy, an agency and a production company which produces shows around Europe.  She is also Co-Artistic Director of an interdisciplinary award-winning Theatre Company, Impetuous Kinship.  Marcia physically directs and choreographs performances and runs and designs workshops for community groups, youth theatres and within traditional educational settings and theatre departments. She also reviews publications for the Society of Speech and Drama Teachers.

CLOSING DATE for entries in MUSICAL THEATRE : Monday 4 DECEMBER 2017

Fees must be paid online or accompany entry forms otherwise entries will NOT be accepted.

1. Competitors may enter more than one class, providing the age limits are complied with.
2. Performances should be a musical scene. These should be chosen from a published work of musical theater and should include a balance between song, movement and dialogue.

Please provide a copy of the music / script for the Adjudicator preferably before the day.
Competitors may use their own accompanist. Please notify at the time of entry, if a backing track is to be used (CDs only, and to be played on your own machine).
Teachers using elements from commercial sources are advised that they should, themselves, seek permission to re-record from the record companies concerned, as the Festival cannot take responsibility for this.

Basic singing skills including intonation, phrasing, correct breathing technique, right choice of song for voice;
Basic performance skills including interpretation of song, characterization;
Basic movement skills: any movement must be relevant and meaningful.

The IVY SHARP MEMORIAL TROPHY awarded for best performance in Year 7 & over.
