Audience Welcome

Audience Welcome

Godalming Music Festival welcomes visitors to its competitions since an audience can help competitors to perform to the best of their ability. Competitions can last for several hours.  Programmes, detailing times of classes and venues are available from Ballethoo in Godalming High Street or from Record Corner in Pound Lane.  Visitors can arrive and leave as they wish, between performances. The entry fee for each morning, afternoon or evening session is £2 with children free.
The times and facilities at each venue vary.  School choirs competitions will be held in the Chapel at Charterhouse on 6th March starting at 2pm. This magnificent building is worth a visit on its own, but the standard of singing and of the adjudication by Jacquelyn Fugalle will make for a memorable afternoon. Get there early because of car parking and please remember in mind that no photography or recording will be allowed.
The drama and verse speaking sections are always enjoyable and will be held in two venues at Priors Field School on March 3rd and 4th and on 10th and 11th. This is the only one of our venues where teas and coffees can be purchased.
Many of the events are held in the Borough Hall. The standard of strings performances in particular is expected to be very high on March 12th, 13th and 14th.   Crown Court Car Park is only a couple of minutes walk away and is free in the evenings.
The organ competitions, this year to be held in St Peter and St Paul Church on 12th March are always well worth a visit. Finally why not come to the Festival Concert on 24th March at 4pm in the Anniversary Halls of St Catherine’s School Bramley. Bring your family and friends to hear some of the finest performances from each section; the concert is free with a retiring collection.
